Receiving a flu shot this year will do more than protect you and your family. The Little Clinic and Kroger Pharmacy are partnering with Feeding America, the nation?s largest domestic hunger relief organization, to provide meals for those struggling with food insecurity nationwide.
Throughout flu season, the One Shot, One Meal campaign will donate one meal through the Feeding America network of food banks for every flu shot administered at all Kroger family of pharmacies or The Little Clinic locations. Patients who receive a flu shot will also be able to hang a pin-up in the store noting that they have participated in protecting their own health while helping a person in need.
One in eight Americans is food insecure. Food insecurity is associated with poorer health outcomes across the lifespan for both acute and chronic disease as well as physical and mental health. Many of the nation?s frequent chronic illnesses are diet-related, including obesity, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and type 2 diabetes. These diseases can be prevented or alleviated by access to and consumption of healthy food.
Our goal at The Little Clinic is to provide quality, affordable healthcare, and Kroger is dedicated to delivering solutions that combine health, wellness and nutrition to customers. This campaign allows us to address those primary goals with one initiative while also giving back to customers and communities.
Feeding America is a nationwide network of 200 food banks that leads the fight against hunger in the United States. These food banks provide food to more than 46 million people through food pantries and meal programs in communities throughout America. For more information, visit http://www.feedingamerica.org/.
