Since 2005, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have supported National Influenza Vaccination Week in order to highlight the importance of continuing flu vaccination throughout the holiday season and beyond. If you haven?t already gotten your flu shot, you can still benefit from vaccination for the current flu season ? it?s not too late!
Flu vaccination is covered as a preventive service under most health plans, so cost is minimal and, in most cases, there is no out-of-pocket cost to the insured person.
Flu vaccination helps limit the spread of the virus for the entire population, not just the person getting the flu shot, an especially important reason for people at high risk for developing flu-related complications.
Flu vaccination not only reduces your chances of contracting the illness, but often helps lessen the severity of symptoms and duration of illness if you do get the flu.
Flu vaccination does not cause the flu and is recommended for everyone over six months of age.
