Are You Ready for Flu Season?
Posted by The Little Clinic
Although getting the flu is possible anytime of year, the majority of instances occur in the fall and winter months. It takes two weeks for the flu shot to fully develop flu-fighting antibodies in your system so The Little Clinic recommends everyone* be vaccinated as soon as the seasonal flu vaccination becomes available ? and that?s now!
Who should get the flu vaccine?
-Infants older than six months
-Anyone living with or caring for children younger than five years old
-Healthcare workers
-Anyone living in a long-term care facility
-Anyone who has chronic health problems, such as asthma, diabetes or blood disorders
-Women who are or will be pregnant during the flu season
Did you know??
Your immune system weakens as you age, making adults age 65 years and older more susceptible to the flu virus.
According to the CDC, the flu is more dangerous than the common cold for young children. The single best way to help protect your children from the flu is to get them immunized each year.
Even healthy people can get the flu, and it can be serious. This season, protect yourself, and those around you, by getting a flu vaccine.
The Little Clinic offers flu shots seven days a week. No appointment is necessary, and locations can be found online at www.thelittleclinic.com.
At The Little Clinic, YOUR flu shot does more. We will donate one meal to Feeding America for every flu shot administered at The Little Clinic.
*Those with contraindications need to discuss the flu shot with their healthcare provider.
